Coffee Export January to September 2011 Growth, India Coffee

Coffee exports for January to September 2011 grew 29% to 295,269 tons as against 228,399 tons exported during 2010, India coffee.

According to the Coffee Board Officials, good domestic crop, favourable prices and robust demand from the international markets has triggered the export growth. The country's coffee export for the recently concluded coffee year 2010-11(October to September) has jumped 41% to 358,278 tons from 253,715 tons last year.

International demand for indian coffee has shown tremendous rise especially from Germany. The exports to the country had gone up 2.6 times to 34,664 tons as against 13,171 tons last year. However, Italy remained the largest consumer of Indian Coffee and the exports stood at 83,811 tons, as against 47,094 tons exported in 2010.

Meanwhile, the exports to Portugal and Greece had dipped on account of economic crisis in these countries.

“We have seen the coffee sector reporting an all-time high in exports, mainly on account of a good domestic crop for the last two consecutive years, owing to good management practices and lesser occurrence of pest attacks. The exporters had more coffee in their hands for exports. The year, too, witnessed favourable prices in international markets, especially during January-September” a Coffee Board official was qouted by Business Standards as saying.
